Don Luigi Crispolti

 

Father Luigi Crispolti was born in Todi on 14 th 1815. The story of the priest y embraces the century XIX. The pastoral action of Luigi had fulcrum and synthesis in the works of charity. In 1841 he opened an of charity for poor girls, because the situation of the young abandoned women and orphan was one of the problems more felt of the city. In the orphanage Father Luigi organized moments of education, starting to the job and furnished a daily meal. In the August of 1847  he inaugurated an orphanage for poor boys in the Building “Corporali” in the street lorenzo Leoni. At the beginnings pupils were only 12 but the number grew very soon. The purpose of Father Luigi was since the beginning to teach to the abandoned boys a work that gave them the possibility to insert themselves in the world of the job in a good way and therefore in the society. The evening schools were integral part of its work. The institute for boys, called "of the Artigianelli" was a real laboratory of handicraft activity and reached also good levels. In 1867, for example, the students participated in the Universal Exposure in Paris and they also received some prizes .In the December of the 1883 Father Luigi Crispolti died. Father Luigi Crispolti has incessantly testified the faith in the charity ,working for the abandoned people, changing them in resources for the city.
